Monday, December 11, 2023

Monday begins with registration and a continental breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Sign in, grab some coffee, and get ready for the first events of the day.

Informa Connect
8:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.

The Informa Connect event kicks off Monday morning, December 11, with senior conference producer Allie Spica and chairperson Peter Arakelian’s welcome remarks at 8:30 a.m. Arakelian is the head of channel/trade distribution and customer operations for market access and patient solutions at EMD Serono. Attendees can hear these remarks in person or livestream them through the conference website for free.

Keynote address
8:45 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

Next, tune in for the opening keynote address. “The Economics of the Pharmacy and Distribution Channel” will be presented by Bill Roth, senior vice president of consulting and founder of Blue Fin Group, part of IntegriChain. Roth will take the audience through current key issues in the industry and emerging issues, including market expansion, changes in the payer landscape and pharmacy economics.

Wall Street Insights
9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

At 9:30 a.m., George Hill, the managing director of healthcare technology and services equity research at Deutsche Bank, will present “Wall Street Insights – Analyze Market Dynamics and Key Investments in the Healthcare Ecosystem.” In his presentation, Hill will explore some of the top changes and challenges facing the life sciences industry today. He’ll break down major events, like recent mergers and acquisitions, to present key insights from these events to participants.

Commercialization Presentation
11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

After a break for networking and refreshments, head to a presentation hosted by Cencora’s John Arena and Tom Doyle. In “Aligning Patient Access Through Integrated U.S. and Global Support Channel Models,” Arena and Doyle discuss some of the biggest commercialization challenges for life sciences companies. They’ll present real-world examples from life sciences companies and advice for working with integrated commercialization partners to boost the success of a product launch.

Networking Luncheon
12:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Lunch is served from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday. It also offers opportunities to meet fellow professionals in the industry and share insights and ideas.

Presentation – IRA
1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

Need to know more about the regulatory impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act? Join Archbow Consulting partner Douglas Bock at 1:30 p.m. on Monday for a presentation on all the IRA provisions that will impact the pharmaceutical industry, including Buy and Bill, PAP Business Rules, 501(c)(3) donations and ongoing lawsuits.

Tuesday kicks off with multiple workshop offerings. Workshops are presented in three tracks by role:

  • Workshop A: Supply chain and distribution operations
  • Workshop B: Pharmacy models strategies and management
  • Workshop C: Data, innovation and analytics

Each of the three workshops has events scheduled for 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:15 p.m. Lunch and network breaks help attendees pace their learning and share their findings with others.

Here are the workshop events that pique our interest:

Workshop A – Supply Chain
11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

At 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Workshop A convenes in a session titled “Supply in Crisis – How Can We Better Prepare.” Krishnakumar Manoharan, senior product manager at US Pharmacopeia, addresses the all-time high in drug shortages that impacted the industry in January 2023. He explores how USP’s Medicine Supply Map can be applied in real-world situations to help manufacturers and distributors collaborate during times of crisis.

Workshop C – Data, Innovation, and Analytics
1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

Finally, at 1:30 pm on December 12, don’t miss Claritas Rx’s own Stuart Kamin. Along with Amgen’s Judd Buskirk, we’ll be offering a presentation titled “Optimize (Your) Channel Performance With Real World Evidence Benchmarking.” We’ll be taking a deep dive into specialty pharma trade analytics, insights, and reporting for real-world applications and value.

NCPDP Updates
3:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.

End the day with two presentations that provide relevant insights for every conference attendee. At 3:30 p.m., join Rick Sage, executive vice president, innovation and standards, at the National Council for Prescription Drug Program (NCPDP) as he provides essential NCPDP updates to pharmacy professionals.

340B Impact
4:15 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Following Sage’s remarks, the audience will hear from Christopher Trimbath, ProMedica’s 340B program manager, on “The Impact of 340B on Channel Design.” You’ll gain an understanding of claims processing including the identification of 304B and examine the strategies in place to prevent diversion and duplicate discounts.

Round out the day with a networking reception at 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday, December 13, 2023

The final day of the conference begins with an 8:30 a.m. continental breakfast, and it packs plenty of information into just six hours. Join Chairperson Peter Arakelian at 9 a.m. for a review of the first two days of the conference.

DEI Presentation
9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

This year’s “Diversity Equity and Inclusion Summit,” is hosted by Danielle Helm, oncology area business leader at Novartis. Helm will walk through the intricacies of diversity, equity and inclusion within the trade and channel aspects of life sciences, showcasing initiatives taken by organizations sharing their DEI experiences.

Additional presentations at 10:15 and 11:15 on Wednesday, plus a networking and refreshment break, round out the morning.

DTx Presentation
12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.

At noon, spend the last half hour before lunch with Shefali Shah, global vice president of market value and commercial effectiveness at MindMaze. Shah delves into “Distribution Strategies and Commercial Strategies for Digital Therapeutics.” She explores how DTx is integrated into programs, how DTx differs from traditional therapeutics, and why DTx coverage is often a conscious choice by payers.

Panel Discussion
2:15 p.m. – 3 p.m.

The conference closes out with one final event at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. David Foell, director of specialty channel operations at Ultragenyx, hosts a panel discussion on “The Future of How We Buy.”

In this Ask the Experts interactive discussion, the panel explores hot topics in life sciences, including payer controls, reimbursement dynamics, and point of access considerations and how these may be differentiated by product type, patient population size, and product handling requirements.
