Role Description
We are looking for a System Administrator with DevOps experience to design, manage and support our Amazon Web Services environments. We’re looking for someone who has a deep knowledge of the services AWS has to offer and can leverage them to provide a secure, HIPAA compliant, redundant and efficient operating environment that allows optimal performance for internal and external customers at all times
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage AWS environment and all internal servers
- Use EC2, RDS, VPC, Route 53, CloudTrail, CloudFormation, S3 and other AWS services to build, patch and manage our environment
- Use Chef cookbooks, recipes, knife and databags to centrally manage standardized application server builds.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security and firewalls
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network issues
- Configure standardized server software builds and set up hardware
- Perform, automate and monitor server and database backups
- Develop, plan and perform disaster recovery operations with regards to AWS infrastructure
- Monitor and address potential capacity limitations with CPU, memory, disk and/or the network
- Schedule and install patches on a quarterly basis
- Contribute to Claritas’s growth in other areas, through participation and responsibility with internal company systems projects
Who You Are
Required:
- 8+ years’ systems administration experience
- Expertise in managing Amazon Web based infrastructure
- Expertise in centralized management of server infrastructure (e.g. Chef, Puppet, etc.)
- Extensive experience with Linux Operating Systems
- Strong DevOps background, specifically as it pertains to automated builds
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Experience in a related capacity at a pharma/biotech manufacturer; a health tech start-up; or a comparable industry
- Experience with advanced PCI or HIPAA / HITECH requirements
- Practical knowledge of software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies
